Have Your Say on Cycling…
Do you want more cycle paths? Subsidised cycling? More cycle clubs in your area? Or have you never considered getting on a bike?
Whatever your views, we want to hear them.
The Cycling Action Plan for Scotland (CAPS) will be one of the most exciting developments in cycling in Scotland in decades, as it seeks to draw together all organisations with a stake in cycling to deliver real and lasting change based on the needs of the public.
We are now in the process of producing the Consultative Draft of CAPS based upon the consultation events held throughout August, September and October of this year.
Some of the key consultation events held in the initial stages of CAPS were:
Online Survey:
We’ve had a fantastic response to our online survey with well over 1000 filled out online. The survey is now closed and the draw for prizes will take place on Friday 31st October 2008 and winners will be notified shortly thereafter.
Public Roadshow Events (now complete):
- Thu 4th September, Buchanan Galleries, Glasgow View event photos
- Sat 6th September, St Nicholas Centre, Aberdeen View event photos
- Thu 11th September, Eastgate Centre, Inverness View event photos
- Sat 13th September St James Centre, Edinburgh View event photos
As well as taking the time to fill out thousands of surveys, the public had the chance to meet the CAPS team at our four Roadshow events and were entertained by our team of stunt bike Riderz, grabbed goodies, won prizes and left video messages in our Big Brother-style diary booth. For those who had a bit more to say, there was the opportunity to Meet The Board at a series of workshops.
Stakeholder Conference
Stakeholders got their chance to develop CAPS further when the views of the public were considered at our Stakeholder Engagement Conference on Tuesday 7th October at Perth Concert Hall.

Now, following the completion of our consultation events, the information and input will be shaped into a Consultative Draft Action Plan to be published in early December 2008. This will give everyone a second opportunity to provide feedback.
The Final Cycling Action Plan for Scotland will be published in May 2009.
